2010 Oz-Stravaganza! Parade

Please join the community of Chittenango as we celebrate Oz-Stravaganza! 2010:  “The Emerald City of Oz”.  This year’s theme is in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the publication of Baum’s book with the same title.  Baum dedicated “The Emerald City of Oz” to his niece, Cynthia Baum Tassini, who lived for many years in Chittenango.

This year’s celebration marks the 32nd year of Oz celebrations in Chittenango, which makes Chittenango’s event the longest running celebration of Oz in the world. As you are aware, L. Frank Baum was born in Chittenango on May 15, 1856.  This is our way of paying tribute to a man that has delighted the hearts of millions who know his stories of Oz.

The Village of Chittenango, its c

ommunity, and its wonderful businesses unite as we celebrate the legacy of our native son.  Baum, our local as well as national treasure, was the author of “The Wizard of Oz” and many other children’s books.  As we continue to delight people from the world over with our celebration, we extend the invitation to you to come join us!

We invite you to participate in Oz-Stravaganza! 2010.  By entering YOUR school or community music group, band, float, or your professional music group, a high-quality, music packed parade is a certainty. The parade this year is Saturday, June 5, 2010, at 2:00 p.m.
